Most milk that people drink comes from cows that produce both A1 and A2 beta-casein protein. When A1 protein is digested, it may release more of a peptide associated with digestive discomfort for some people3,4 called beta-casomorphin-7 (BCM-7). A2 milk comes from cows that produce only A2 beta-casein protein. When A2 protein is digested, it releases less of the BCM-7 peptide. So, for select individuals, A2 milk is simply easier on the stomach.
